The formula for MMORPGs that World of Warcraft has established has permeated the scene, to the point where it's overflowing and relatively stagnant. Very few MMORPGs have tried to mix it up, with many sharing a very similar combat system and gameplay loop as WoW. However, there are a few MMOs out there that try to mix up some part of it. Fiesta Online doesn't try - it just executes on the traditional ideas incredibly well.

Character creation is honestly not that great. You can pick between five classes, six if you have a character at level 60, and some basic customization factors like hair, face, and hair color. Those are the only things you can change. The storyline is incredibly lighthearted but still enjoyable. The tutorial acts as a prologue as well and sets the tone of the story incredibly well.

The gameplay is pretty standard MMORPG fare. It's pretty easy to level up until you start getting into the mid 20s, and it only gets worse until up to level 70 where you have to start spending days to gain a single level. However, there are a few interesting features. You can get married for a bunch of benefits, advance jobs twice at level 20 and 60, and these classes will change how you play the game significantly.

All in all, Fiesta Online does what it sets out to do fairly well. Outside of the long XP grind, there aren't that many downsides.
